  • Located in Metro Atlanta, Damahoodoula exists to restore rest, rhythm, and reverence to the sacred postpartum season.

We believe birth, reproductive health, and healing are both deeply personal and inherently political. Every person deserves compassionate, culturally responsive, trauma-informed care that honors their identity, autonomy, and lived experience.

Our philosophy recognizes postpartum as a sacred rite of passage. It is a time to be nourished, protected, witnessed, and supported, not rushed, isolated, or simply endured.

We specialize in restorative newborn and postpartum care, helping families reclaim the rest and sacredness that modern society has too often forgotten. Our work creates space for healing, bonding, and the confidence to move through early parenthood with support rather than survival.

Our care blends the ancestral wisdom of traditional African midwifery with evidence-based Western education and contemporary medical knowledge. We honor both tradition and science, recognizing that families deserve care that is culturally grounded, informed by research, and responsive to their unique needs.

Our philosophy is rooted in reproductive justice—the belief that every person has the right to have children, not have children, and parent the children they have in safe, sustainable communities. We acknowledge that racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and economic inequities shape reproductive experiences, and we are committed to providing care that actively challenges those barriers through advocacy, education, and compassionate support.

At Damahoudoula, we believe your body is yours.
    Your choices are yours.
    Your story is yours.

Whether you identify as BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, a first-time parent, a growing family, or someone seeking culturally affirming care, you belong here. We are honored to walk beside you with compassion, evidence-based guidance, and community-centered care from pregnancy through postpartum.

Because when families are cared for, communities heal. And when postpartum is protected, generations flourish.

  • At Damahoudoula, we believe every person deserves compassionate, culturally grounded, and affirming care throughout pregnancy, birth, postpartum, abortion, miscarriage, infertility, adoption, and reproductive decision-making.

Our practice centers people who have historically been overlooked, marginalized, or harmed by healthcare systems. While we welcome anyone who aligns with our values, we intentionally prioritize:

    • Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)

    • LGBTQIA+ individuals, couples, and families

    • Transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive parents

    • Single parents and chosen families

    • Young parents and first-time parents

    • Disabled and neurodivergent individuals

    • Survivors of medical racism, reproductive trauma, or gender-based violence

    • Families seeking culturally responsive, trauma-informed care

    • Activists, organizers, and community members working toward reproductive justice

  • Damahoudoula is more than a birth service—it is a space for healing, advocacy, education, and collective care.

We understand that birth does not happen in a vacuum. Racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, economic inequality, and systemic barriers all shape reproductive experiences. As a political and holistic doula, I recognize that supporting birth also means supporting bodily autonomy, informed consent, community care, and reproductive justice.

Whether you're planning a home birth, hospital birth, abortion, postpartum recovery, or simply seeking someone who will honor your identity and your choices, you deserve care that sees your whole self—not just your pregnancy.

    Here, your culture is respected.
    Your identity is affirmed.
    Your voice is heard.
    Your choices belong to you.

Together, we build healthier families, stronger communities, and a future where every person can birth, parent, and heal with dignity.
